S.M.R.R.P. called a meeting to deliberate on the best dates for the 2010 racing calendar.
Different factors need to be considered when deciding on the best dates. The start of the
racing year is in March. January and February are both busy months with Carnival. The
season also needs to end in October, as it's necessary to define who the champions are
and are eligible for different seats in international events, like World championships.
These races are usually in late October or November.

Additionally other things such as summer vacation and October break needs to be
avoided. After deliberations the racing calendar was defined as follows.

March 6 and 7 Double Header

April 3 and 4 Double Header

June 12 and 13 Double Header - May be combined with a TAG Championsip (NACAM)

September 4 and 5 Double Header

October 2 and 3 Double Header

A total of 10 races. All organized by S.M.R.R.P.

Other topics of conversation included the need to educate and inform the drivers,
mechanics, and other supporters on topics such as rules & regulations, safety, etc.

As is the case in Formula One, during this meeting the issue of cutting costs also came
up. One of the ways with which is lower tire costs for example, is by purchasing tire sets at
larger quantities and bring them in a container by ship. This would reduce the normal
price with about $50. The challenge here is to have the capital to make the purchase to
begin with. A raffle for an easykart (cadet) will be created to build the funds to help
achieve this. This raffle will be for Afl. 2,00 per ticket. If this raffle is able to raise enough
cash, it is possible to eliminate also the registration fees per race. Stay tuned and please
support our fund raising by purchasing or selling tickets. The raffle date will be in March.

Other ideas such as purchasing leisure karts for promotional and fund raising activities
       was also discussed.

Simon Oduber of KNAF Sectie Aruba also took the opportunity to bring forward
developments of Karting in general. KNAF is now a non-voting member of NACAM, as is
also other European ASN's with representation in the Caribbean Region. In addition,
NACAM has also restructured their championships, splitting into three formats: TAG USA,
ROTAX and EASYKART. NACAM has requested Aruba to host one of the TAG USA
rounds. This will be pursued, but remains to be confirmed.

KNAF also wants to underscore the importance of a serious approach to karting adhering
to the existing rules. It provides safety, Insurance during races, fairness, discipline, etc.
Naturally, the accessibity and enjoyment are also important for the durability
and popularity of the sport. As has been announced, Simon is stepping down as
President of KNAF Sectie Aruba, but will remain in the board to maintain his experience,
expertise and dedication. He will be able to focus more on organizing the races. Joseline
will also stay on the board for support.

2010 Racing Calendar is good to go!
